Last month, SMB CloudTech’s very own CEO Oleg Reut joined host Aaron Mangal on The Cloud Podcast to talk about the difficulties of compliance in today’s technology world. Thanks to Oleg’s 15 years of experience in supporting clients’ compliance postures with strategic technology solutions, he was able to share sage advice and practical insight into the field.

“Compliance, especially SOX or HIPAA, is so complex, it’s got layers to it and you have to know what you’re doing,” said Oleg. “You make a mistake and you’ll get a huge fine for it. You want to have somebody on your side who knows the business, who knows compliance, in case you get audited.”

Over the course of the episode, Oleg, Aaron and Paul the “Common Man” discussed the difficulty in maintaining compliance while using the Cloud, especially for large businesses.

“The way tech is going nowadays, it’ll be so easy for a business owner or operations manager to go in the Cloud and set up their own file server, email server, or their own storage, we’ve been seeing this a lot, especially in the smaller business market,” said Oleg. “Medium to larger businesses still need help from MSPs, especially when compliance is involved.”

The three went on to discuss the value in auditing Managed Service Providers (MSPs) and checking their references to ensure they can deliver on their claims of compliance support. Later in the episode, Oleg helped to define how the Cloud can improve small businesses, the personnel requirements of the Cloud, the cost-savings it presents, and when a business should consider transitioning.

“My advice is to hire an MSP to help out,” said Oleg. “It pays to do it right the first time.”
